| Cleaning
Awnings |
| Sometimes things
are much simplier than I have made them. Take for instance the cloth
awnings. Every year I find green moss and mold stains on the cloth
awnings. The biggest mistake I made one year was cleaning them with
harsh washing solvents and a brush. Big mistake. When rinsing the
chemical got on the anodized aluminum and created some permanent
stains. It has also been difficult to reach the center of the main
awning from the ground even with a long brume handle. Why didn't
I think of using a pressure washer. The pressure pushes the mold
and dirt from the awning without the use of soap. |
|
| Luckly AVION
BOY got up on the roof with the washer. He washed the tops of the
awnings. The airconditioner cover and the roof itself. The airconditioner
cover looks the best since it was new. |

What
use to be an all day project is finished in an hour. |

| Hard
Awnings (Rock Guards) |
| Eventually
the OEM rock guard will crack and need replacing. I bought an awning
from CAYO. After one year it had serious fading. It really detracted
from the looks of the trailer. After failing for several years I
found a solution. |

 |
| I
do car detailing as a side job and had all of the tools and solvents
I needed.
1. Orbital
Polisher
2. Heat
activated polishing compund.
3. Liquid
Glass Polymer Wax.
Orbital rotate in uneven circles to prevent swirl marks. Don't
use another type of ower tool for this method. The polish
is slightly gritty. It activates effectivley by the heat generated
by the pad.

| I taped off the awning
so you could see a before and after using the polisher. |

Your results
will be reflected on your patience.(Get it. Ha Ha) Buff, remove
excess, examine, redo as desired. I finished the project with
Liquid Gold Car Polish. It is a polymer designed to harden in
the sun. Use several coats but not more than 4 hours apart.
How long this will last
is the big question. If I don't get at least a full season I will
implement plan "B". Stay tuned.
